Why Mission in Sport

Mission in Sport is organisation focused on the support of sport, especially ice hockey. It is continuator and legal successor of Hockey Ministries International – Slovakia, which defuncted during year 2019.

Main goal of Mission is Sport is to help and develop youth sports based on biblical principles under supervision of professional coaches. In association Mission in Sport, it is not about development of athletes within sport itself, but also within personal life. We are trying to support and develop young athletes and their personality. We are supporting them not only on ice, but also in personal life.

We know, how hard it is to be successful in professional sport. Nevertheless, we fully supporting this dream, but we also teach athletes to have also another dreams, they can develop after retiring of professional career. We consider this as important part of young people education in sport and we hope, that they will always take from us something more than skills from trainings.

Our Team

Ivan Matušek

prezident OZ MIS

He has many years of experience in organisation of sports events and leading projects at various level. In the past, he was actively involved in mountaineering, led tourist section of youth. Also, he has experience as manager of youth hockey teams, held management positions in the committees of tourist, hockey and mountaineering clubs. Since 2008 is president of MIS (former HMI-Slovakia). He is certified project manager.

Matej Ch. Kučera

He is one of the founding members of MIS. Previously, he held management position in HMI Slovakia, he was several years director of summer Christian hockey camp. Ice hockey is his passion, he will not miss any detail from hockey, especially NHL.

Matej Matušek

As an ice hockey goalkeeper, he started for HK Gladiators Trnava, played for Los Angeles Kings Junior 18AA, where he also finished high school. During his active career, he won a bronze medal in the junior extra league as goalie of the Banská Bystrica. After retiring his active career, he began studying sports and became a coach, currently working at the Rudi Hiti Academy, Bled, Slovenia. As a goalkeeper coach, he worked at the Henrik Lundqvist camp in Sweden, but also at the IIHF development camp in Sofia. In the 2019/2020 season, he held the position of head coach of the U15 at the tournament in Canada, Granby Bantam U15AAA.

Štefan Fajnor

A graduate of FTVŠ (Faculty of Physical education and Sport) in Bratislava and a former ice hockey player, he is still actively playing in amateur leagues. He works as a coach at MIS camps and as an organizer of sports events.

Bohuš Šilhár

A graduate of FTVŠ (Faculty of Physical education and Sport), former ice hockey players and youth coach. He works as a coach at MIS camps and as an organizer of sports events.

Coaches and instructors

Matej Matušek

Absolvent FTVŠ v Bratislave a bývalý hráč ľadového hokeja, aktívne stále hrá v amatérskych ligách. Pôsobí ako tréner na kempoch OZ MIS a ako organizátor športových podujatí
